Christmas is Coming: The DIY Christmas Jumper

This Christmas I wanted one thing. A Christmas Jumper. But I also didn’t want to spend too much money on it. Solution? Make my own.

The making proved very easy. Sourcing a plain jumper proved frustratingly difficult. I scoured nearly every chain store/ cheapish store to no avail. I ended up purchasing a jumper that was too big from Glasson’s and then cutting it down. Sigh. But to the Christmas aspect!

I started off with this image.

Ignore the pixelation, the important bit is the basic outlines. I cut out this image to use as a pattern. Step one done!

Step two is to grab some scraps of fabric in the appropriate colours. Pin the pattern to the fabric and cut out the basic shapes. You’ll need a face, antlers, white eyes, red nose and ears (which I forgot, oops).

Step three! Arrange the fabric on your jumper and pin it into place.

Four! Grab a sewing machine and zig zag stitch around the edges.

Step Five are the details – sew on black buttons for eyes and bells on the antlers.

Ta da! Feel free to frolic in your jingly jumper all the way home.

As a side note how cute is this DIY dinosaur hoodie from the Dizain Collective?! Also in the department of amazing DIY’s is this A Frame Tent Tutorial
