Every now and then the Internet brings you someone brilliant. Someone special and funny who adds real value to your life. I’ve been lucky to find a handful of people who fit this description, people who have become more ‘in real life friends’ than ‘online friends’.
So with that being said, it is with great woe that one of these people is now going to leave. She’s heading off to join the JET programme in Japan. It’s exciting for her, a kick in the pants for us.
The only upside? This girl knows how to say goodbye. She made herself a bucket list and it was up to us to help tick it off. I’ll be honest, I don’t know how well we’ve down. But with time running out she decided that we might as well make a day of it.
Hence, #EVERYTHING2014.
It may not have been the classiest of times, but it sure was the best of times.
Liquid breakfast
Driving Range
Laser Tag
Drinking Games
Thai Food
Karaoke
We laughed, sang, danced and I may have even got a bit sassy.
#Everything2014 – brilliant idea. There’s something special about putting people on a mission to complete as many tasks as possible. We are so used to sitting around and talking that doing things becomes a bit of an unfamiliar task. Especially in Winter.
‘What, you mean leave the house?’
‘Uhhhh, yes? Is that a problem?’
But then you get moving and it brings you back to life. You get a hint of warmth under your skin and some of that familiar Summer excitement. You begin to feel alive.
So hey Francesca, thank you. Thank you for bringing us all together to celebrate you, for coming into our lives and making us do things, for being a wonderful person, through and through. I’m gonna miss ya, kid.
:'( thank you for everything!! you’re such an amazing friend and I’m so glad we got to do #EVERYTHING2014 !!! here’s to #EVERYTHING2015 ;)
Reblogged this on Memoirs of a Gaijin and commented:
Maddy, in short, has become one of my nearest and dearest friends in the last year and I feel so fortunate to have her, and many other new friends in my life, they’re the best.
Last weekend we ticked some things off my bucket list before I leave NZ, and it wouldn’t be possible to find better people to do it with <3 I'm going to miss these guys ALOT.
